This week was all about the Google I/O and we will not go against that tide. Here are the week’s highlights:
One Billion Android Users: Design, Develop, Distribute
This is Google I/O is a nutshell. There are one billion people around the world who use Android. Google estimates more than 20 billion texts are sent every day 93M selfies. Google also unveiled The Android L Preview which features “tactile surfaces, bold graphic design, and fluid motion to create beautiful, intuitive experiences”. They are calling the concept material design.
Then there’s Android One, a smartphone that is Google says will be high quality and affordable, starting in India first then other countries later on. IDEOS memories anyone?
So apparently, we check our phones more than 150 times a day. IKR? Say what? Google announced Android wearables to relieve your thumbs of that checking work. Plus Android Auto, which lets you connect your Android phone to a car and access your phones apps through your car’s controls.
And then there was Android TV that brings Android apps and games to your living room.
Pinterest Notifications on Android
Directly related to the Google I/O, Pinterest introduced new notifications on Android. If you are near a place you have pinned, Pinterest will notify you! And then you can get step-by-step directions right from your Android device.
Daily by Buffer
Buffer released a new iOS app dubbed Daily that gives users a collection of stories, images and quotes for viewing/reading and sharing. The sharing is synced with your Buffer account. Buffer is taking content sharing very seriously, obviously.
